Independent survey recognizes Cohn & Wolfe’s sustainability expertise

Survey measures growing importance within Fortune 500 companies
for sustainability communications

According to a recent study that assessed the expertise and capabilities of 18 firms offering sustainability communications services, Cohn & Wolfe is “verging on leadership,” one of only a four to receive the designation. The study, conducted by global business analyst Verdantix, was based on interviews with agency executives, publicly available information and interviews with 15 clients at firms with global revenues of over $2 billion.

Verdantix writes that Cohn & Wolfe’s strength lies in assessing the strength of clients’ sustainability commitments and translating them into effective communications strategies, as well as understanding the barriers that companies face in implementing sustainability programs. Verdantix also pointed to C&W programs such as its ‘Sustainability Bootcamp’ and annual Green Brands survey as evidence of the company’s commitment to the Practice and expanding its knowledge-base and overall expertise.

Additionally, Verdantix reports that most companies believe sustainability communications should be PR-driven.  The study also validates a growing requirement among Fortune 500 companies to deploy and communicate a strategic sustainability program performance to business and consumer audiences.
